MustTry (“we,” “us,” or “our”) explains here how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the MustTry mobile app and related services at musttry.ai. This policy applies to the MustTry app on iOS (and other platforms we may offer).
1. Who we are
MustTry is a social discovery app that helps you see where friends are live, what they save, and where your crowd is vibing. You can contact us about privacy at privacy@musttry.ai or support@musttry.ai.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide and information generated when you use the app.
- Account: email and password, or sign-in through a third-party account you connect in the app. An optional phone number for friend discovery is stored only as a one-way hash — we do not store your full phone book on our servers.
- Profile: display name, profile photo, bio, vibe persona and preferences from onboarding (and if you retake the vibe quiz), favorite tags, and settings such as notification and privacy toggles.
- Places & activity: saved places, check-ins, LIVE sessions (including vibe labels and audience settings), short LIVE video clips, 360° spot photos, status photos or clips on your check-in, place ratings (Must Try, Liked, etc.), comments on friend activity, reactions, and streak progress (e.g. daily LIVE or check-in streaks) where you use those features.
- Location: when you allow location access, we use your device location for the map, to verify check-ins near a place when you go LIVE, and to suggest Must Try spots when you visit a new area (if that notification is enabled). We do not track your location in the background when the app is closed unless a future feature clearly asks for that permission.
- Camera, microphone, and photos (optional): if you go LIVE with a photo, short clip, or 360° view, capture a status image, or change your profile photo, the app uses your device camera and/or microphone and may access the photo library when you choose to upload existing media (for example a 360° panorama from your camera roll).
- Device motion (optional): when you use guided 360° capture, the app may read device orientation sensors to help you rotate while taking multiple frames. We do not use motion data for advertising.
- Contacts (optional): if you run contact sync, phone numbers are normalized and hashed on your device. Only hashes are sent to our servers to match friends already on MustTry. Raw contact names and numbers are not uploaded.
- Device & push: push notification tokens if you enable notifications, and basic device/platform identifiers needed to deliver the service.
- Product analytics (optional): if enabled, we may collect a session identifier, screen names, time spent on screens, button or tab names you tap, and daily session markers tied to your account. We use this to improve the app — not to sell your data. When analytics is disabled, these events are not collected.
- Subscriptions: if you purchase Premium Plan, payment is handled by your device’s app store. We receive subscription status to unlock Premium features; we do not receive your full payment card number.
- Place search: when you search for venues, queries and coarse location may be sent to third-party mapping or place-data services to return results, under their policies as well as ours.
3. How we use information
We use your information to operate and improve MustTry, including to:
- Create and secure your account and sync your profile across devices.
- Show your friends your LIVE check-ins, clips, 360° views, saves, and ratings according to your LIVE audience (all friends, close friends only, or private) and your privacy settings.
- Host and deliver media you upload (photos, clips, 360° images) on our storage infrastructure for the period those features are designed to show them (for example many LIVE status items expire after about 24 hours).
- Let you find friends via search, suggestions, mutual friends, shared places, and hashed contact matching.
- Send in-app and push notifications you have opted into (friend activity, friend requests, travel suggestions, streak reminders, and similar).
- Operate streaks and similar engagement features based on your check-in and LIVE activity.
- Enforce safety features such as block, report-related workflows, and friend-request controls.
- Provide Premium Plan features when you subscribe.
- Measure product usage (when analytics is enabled) to understand which screens and actions are most helpful.
- Maintain security, debug issues, and comply with law.
4. What friends and others can see
MustTry is built for sharing with people you connect with as friends. Your LIVE location and check-in activity are not shown on a public map or to strangers. Visibility depends on your choices:
- LIVE audience per check-in or default: all friends, close friends only, or just you (private). Private LIVE does not publish clips or 360° posts to the friends feed, though you may still store a personal status on your profile as designed in the app.
- Friends Are Doing and similar feeds: friends may see your active status photo, short LIVE clip, or 360° view for a limited time when you share with a non-private audience.
- Privacy settings: whether your check-ins and ratings appear on friends’ feeds, and whether others can send you friend requests.
- Close friends: only people you mark as close friends see LIVE shared with a “close friends only” audience.
- Blocked users cannot see your profile in search or feeds and cannot interact with you through the app.
5. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
Where applicable, we rely on contract (providing the app), legitimate interests (security, improving the product, friend matching with hashed contacts, and optional product analytics), and consent (optional permissions such as contacts, location, camera, microphone, and push). You may withdraw consent by changing device or in-app settings.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as follows:
- Service providers: companies that help us operate the app (such as hosting, authentication, media storage, and push notification delivery) under agreements that require them to protect your data.
- Other users: as described above, according to your friend relationships and privacy controls.
- Sign-in, payments, and distribution: platform providers you use to sign in, subscribe, or download the app, as applicable.
- Mapping and venue data: third parties that power place search or map-related features, as applicable.
- Legal: when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the service.
- Business transfers: if we merge, sell assets, or reorganize, data may transfer subject to this policy.
7. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Ephemeral features (such as many LIVE status photos, clips, and 360° posts) are designed to expire after a short period (typically about 24 hours) and may be deleted from our systems after that. Product analytics events are retained for a limited period for reporting. If you delete your account in the app or ask us to delete data, we will delete or anonymize personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records by law.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures such as encryption in transit, access controls, and protections designed so users can only access data the app is intended to expose. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Age requirements
MustTry is intended for adults 18 years of age or older. The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
LIVE check-in, location sharing, and related social features are designed for adult users. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will take steps to delete the account and associated data. If you believe a minor has an account, contact safety@musttry.ai or privacy@musttry.ai.

10. Cookies, analytics, and advertising technologies
MustTry is primarily a mobile app, not a traditional advertising network. We do not sell your personal information. This section describes tracking-like technologies we use today and how we would disclose future advertising pixels if added.
- Mobile app: we do not use browser cookies inside the native app. Session and authentication tokens are stored securely to keep you signed in.
- Product analytics (optional): when enabled, we may collect session identifiers, screen names, taps, and similar usage events to improve the product — not for third-party ad targeting.
- Push notifications: your device’s platform delivers notifications using device tokens; we do not use those tokens for cross-app advertising.
- Embedded web content: if you open a link or in-app web view (for example a 360° viewer), that page may set cookies or collect data under the third party’s policy.
- Advertising pixels: we do not currently use third-party advertising or measurement pixels in the MustTry app for retargeting. If we introduce them in the future, we will update this policy, describe what data is shared, and provide choices where required by law (for example consent in the EEA/UK).
- Website (musttry.ai): our marketing site may use basic server logs. If we add analytics or ad tags on the website, we will post a cookie notice on musttry.ai and link it here.
11. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:
- Update profile, favorite tags, and privacy settings in the app (Profile → Settings → Privacy). Retake the vibe quiz from Profile to update your vibe persona and related tags.
- Turn off push or specific notification categories in Settings → Notifications.
- Revoke location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access in iOS Settings → MustTry.
- Block users from their profile.
- Delete your account anytime in the app under Profile → Settings → Privacy → Delete account. You can also email support@musttry.ai to request access, export, or deletion.
12. International users
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your home country.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new date at the top and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
